As I just passed my one-year anniversary as a newborn photographer, this is the time that I get to reflect back and look how far I've come. I knew the instant I started my journey into newborn photography that it would eventually be the direction I would head in. Little did I know the day I stepped foot into that first studio session that my heart would grow to love one genre so much.
When I first started out, I tried it all - family, engagements, weddings, babies, kids. I wasn't really sure what I loved.... And then came newborn photography. I always knew it was something I wanted to try, but I was insistent on the fact that I wanted to take a newborn photography course first. So I did. And then I did my first model call. Emily, little Savannah's mom, was so kind to me! She really was excited for Savannah's newborn pictures, and we came up with some really great ideas together.
Savannah was a dream! She slept almost her entire session, and it was in those quiet moments that my heart had decided it was fate. I LOVED it! I loved the creativity it allowed me - picking props, colors, textures, and accessories. It allowed me to dream up creative ideas and bring them to life. It allowed me to talk with my clients to really customize their session to suit their own style, while still reflecting mine. It allowed me to be the girly-girl that I am, having those "every girl deserves to be a princess" photos that we all know and love. I've always loved to create and design, so it really allowed me to express that side of myself in an artistic manner.
Most of all, it allowed me to capture so much love. Photographing those first professional images of a mother and child, of a new family, of this new, tiny, precious human - it's like a window into the soul. The love a parent has for their child... wow. It's breathtaking, beautiful, fierce, and unbreakable.
These are the happily ever afters I've always wanted to capture. This is the love that will live on forever, carrying you through every tough moment. And these are the images that will last a lifetime, for you to forever cherish. Love is so powerful, and I am so grateful and blessed to be able to tell your story through these special images.
I mean, those lashes <3
So, thank you, Emily and Savannah! You'll always hold a special place in my heart <3
